CBI posts summons on home of Punjab CM's OSD amid bribery probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation affixed a legal notice outside the residence of Rajbir Ghuman, the officer on special duty to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, after he failed to appear for questioning.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has placed a summons on the house of Rajbir Ghuman, who serves as officer on special duty to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, in connection with a suspected bribery scheme. Ghuman did not attend a questioning session at the CBI's Chandigarh office, where he had been asked to appear at 2.30 pm on Wednesday. The agency registered an FIR against him and several associates after receiving orders from the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a report from the Enforcement Directorate.

Investigators allege that civil servants accessed and shared draft government orders and policy documents with private individuals before they were formally issued. The case highlights concerns over misuse of bureaucratic influence in Punjab's administration. The summons was publicly posted outside Ghuman's residence in New Delhi as a procedural step.

Why it matters

The case underscores alleged corruption in Punjab's government and the CBI's effort to curb misuse of official influence.
