Celtic bring in veteran keeper Sam Johnstone and teen striker Shumaira Mheuka on loan

Celtic announced the loan acquisition of Sam Johnstone, a 33-year-old former England international, from Wolverhampton Wanderers to compete with Finland international Viljami Sinisalo for the goalkeeper role. Johnstone, who lost his Premier League place at Wolves in December and has not featured since an FA Cup defeat to Liverpool, expressed enthusiasm about joining the Scottish champions. The club also secured teenage striker Shumaira Mheuka on loan; the 18-year-old has a contract with Chelsea until 2031 and impressed by scoring 18 goals in 19 games as captain of their Under-21 side.

O'Neill highlighted Johnstone’s high-level experience and described Mheuka as a player who will add a new attacking dimension. The moves follow the retirement of veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel after his last appearance in February due to a shoulder injury.
