A recent internal poll of Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire shows Rep. Chris Pappas commanding roughly 71% of the vote, far ahead of challenger Karishma Manzur, who is at about 15%, with 14% of respondents undecided. The GQR survey, fielded from Aug. 19-25, follows a University of New Hampshire poll that placed Manzur only 13 points behind Pappas, prompting concern among national Democrats. While the party is comfortable with Pappas’s primary lead, it anticipates a competitive general election, as other polls show former Republican Governor Chris Sununu with a narrow edge over Pappas.
Pappas has secured endorsements from figures such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, whereas Manzur’s top national backer is former Rep. Jamaal Bowman; Senator Bernie Sanders has not yet endorsed. Sununu still faces a primary contest against former Sen. Scott Brown, though the latest UNH poll gave Sununu a sizable lead.
