CIA warns of Russian kamikaze drones launched from ships targeting Mediterranean nations

According to the CIA, Russia is planning a covert escalation by using "ghost fleet" cargo vessels to launch Gerbera kamikaze drones toward Spain, France and Italy. The drones, disguised within shipping containers, would be catapulted from ships 200-300 km offshore and have a range of up to 600 km with a 2.5-metre wingspan and a 4-5 kg warhead. European defence officials say such strikes could cripple airports, spark tourism losses and cause psychological shock.
Analysts argue the Mediterranean states are vulnerable because they lack fully integrated air-defence and missile-intercept systems. The warning prompted emergency meetings in France and heightened alert levels across NATO’s southern flank.
