CICC urges IT and hacking communities to aid government investigation of school shooting

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) asked technology-savvy individuals and online communities to come forward with any data that might assist the government after a school shooting in South Cotabato was tied to the dark web. Executive director Aboy Paraiso told Super Radyo dzBB that the agency lacks certain expertise and hopes ICT, hacking and forum participants can fill the gap. He described how the deep web requires special tools and often hosts illegal firearm sales and anonymous discussions.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government previously said the Banga National High School shooter was heavily involved in the dark web, and police noted his engagement in violent online content. Paraiso urged parents to watch for changes in their children’s behavior as a possible sign of exposure. He emphasized that preventing another tragedy depends on cooperation between authorities and the online community.
