CID arrests relatives of exam fraud suspect as Jharkhand recruitment voided
The Criminal Investigation Department detained the wife and brother of a key exam-fraud accused, while the state chief minister cancelled the related recruitment.
The Criminal Investigation Department in Ranchi arrested Sushma Kumari and Akshay Kumar Tiwari, the spouse and sibling of Abhay Tiwari, who is under investigation for manipulation of Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission exams. Both relatives had passed the JSSC common graduate level examination that is now under scrutiny. CID also conducted a raid at the JSSC office, interrogating its secretary Sudhir Gupta on separate days.
Following revelations of a paper-leak scandal, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced the cancellation of the entire recruitment drive. The agency secured five-day remand orders for three earlier JPSC suspects—Manoj Kumar, Roshan Kerketta and Umakant Oroan—to aid the ongoing inquiry.
