CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke learns of grandmother's death as police offer travel option

Police informed Cockroach Janta Party activist Abhijeet Dipke that his grandmother died and gave him the choice to return for funeral rites or stay for the protest.

The Delhi police told Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke that his grandmother died on Saturday and offered him the option to travel home for the funeral or stay to keep up the protest at Jantar Mantar. The same day, CJP co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, along with Dipke, were taken into custody as their plane landed at Delhi airport. In a video recorded the night before, Dipke said that if he and the co-conveners were arrested, Ajinkya Shinde would lead the movement.

He urged supporters to follow Shinde’s direction. The police have not clarified the detention location. Meanwhile, a number of other opposition leaders, including Pinarayi Vijayan, Mamata Banerjee and several CPI(M) Keralam members, were also reported detained at the protest site.
