Coe urges LA28 to partner closely with U.S. officials while keeping control

Sebastian Coe, who led the London 2012 Olympics and now heads World Athletics, told journalists that the Los Angeles organizing committee must work hand-in-hand with U.S. ministries such as Treasury, Defense and Homeland Security to mitigate risks. He likened effective political cooperation to keeping politicians "on the bus" but away from the steering wheel, a balance he claims he achieved in London. Coe referenced the friction between President Donald Trump and FIFA chief Gianni Infantino during the recent World Cup, including a disputed player suspension.

He added that the upcoming LA Games will still see Trump in office, underscoring the need for stable government relations. IOC president Kirsty Coventry, who succeeded Thomas Bach, expressed confidence that the LA organizers can handle visa and other issues through consistent collaboration.
