Collins Uses RNC Stage to Push Laken Riley Act and Attack Ossoff

At the Republican National Convention, Senate candidate Mike Collins delivered a speech centered on the Laken Riley Act, a measure he authored after the 2024 killing of Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley by an undocumented immigrant. The bill would compel the Department of Homeland Security to detain illegal aliens arrested for specified offenses. Collins used the platform to criticize Sen. Jon Ossoff, accusing him of supporting open borders and a “far-left agenda,” and claimed Ossoff refused to help honor Riley’s memory.

He also tied Ossoff to progressive figures such as Hasan Piker and Bernie Sanders, labeling them as threats to the nation. Collins concluded by pledging to prioritize his state’s values if elected, while promoting a book by Tyler O’Neil that alleges a left-wing cabal influences government.
