Congress chief alleges Chinese troops 40-50km inside Arunachal, state leader denies incursion

Arunachal Pradesh Congress president Bosiram Siram said Chinese forces have moved 40-50 km into Upper Subansiri, a claim dismissed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

Arunachal Pradesh Congress president and former education minister Bosiram Siram claimed Chinese PLA troops have advanced 40-50 km into Indian territory in Upper Subansiri district. Siram led a delegation, including Tanga Byaling and MP Jarodum Kri, that toured border points such as Nacho, Limeking and Taksing between Aug 26 and 29, where residents reported Chinese soldiers stationed on mountain ridges. He called for a thorough, high-level probe, referencing remarks by ITBP Director General Shatrujit Singh Kapoor and earlier warnings from the Nah Welfare Society and a People's Party of Arunachal team.

State Chief Minister Pema Khandu said he sees no incursion, and Union minister Kiren Rijiju rejected a 60-km intrusion claim while acknowledging heightened Chinese activity on the high ridges. Siram warned that the alleged presence threatens local livelihoods and urged the central government and defence ministry to act.

Why it matters

The allegation raises the risk of heightened tension on the contested India-China border, affecting regional security.
