Cyberattack hits refrigeration systems in French supermarkets

Hackers breached Danfoss refrigeration control software older than version 4, taking remote control of units and causing temperatures to rise. The intrusion affected about 80 Coopérative U stores and between 100 and 150 Intermarché outlets, and reports indicate that some Monoprix, Leclerc and Carrefour locations also experienced temperature overrides. Store operators have mobilised response teams and specialist frigorists while a formal investigation proceeds. Danfoss warned customers to update or replace the vulnerable systems, and the Groupement Mousquetaires estimates losses at several million euros.
