Czech foreign minister Petr Macinka rebuked as pro-Russian collaborator over Finnish EU proposal

German politician Němcová labeled Czech foreign minister Petr Macinka a pro-Russian collaborator after he opposed a Finnish initiative to limit Russian entry into the EU.

German MP Němcová reposted a remark from ex-foreign minister Jana Lipavský, calling Czech foreign minister Petr Macinka a pro-Russian collaborator for rejecting Finland’s plan to curb Russian entry into the EU. She argued the stance endangers EU and Czech security amid heightened Russian sabotage. Macinka responded after a cabinet meeting, claiming the Czech Republic has long aligned with the Finnish idea and participates in a similar Estonian-driven effort supported by Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Romania.

He noted that only four EU members have signed the initiative and questioned whether other ministers act as “Trojan horses.” Macinka emphasized that the foreign ministry’s role is to assess issues in context, not to single out Russia, and pointed to existing Czech measures that already address the concerns raised by Finland.
