Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar lauds coordinated rollout of fuel relief scheme

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar commended the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, saying it exemplifies a whole-of-government approach. Launched on September 17, the program offers a Rs100 per litre subsidy to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800 cc, with monthly quotas of 20 or 30 litres respectively. In a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy, Dar noted coordinated actions by the ministries of Information Technology, Information, Petroleum, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the State Bank of Pakistan and all provincial governments.

The statement reported roughly 7.60 million registrations and 7.71 million tokens redeemed, with the redemption phase now in its second week. Attendees included IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa, and senior officials from the listed agencies. The relief measures aim to offset rising fuel prices linked to disruptions in Middle-East oil routes.
