DNC Chair Ken Martin Rejects Claims of Paranoia and HR Complaint at Party HQ

Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic National Committee, dismissed recent reports that his tenure had fostered a climate of paranoia among employees at the party’s Washington headquarters, including an alleged HR complaint after he purportedly threw a phone at a staffer’s desk. Martin told MS NOW hosts that the claims were inaccurate and praised the staff’s dedication, noting he often arrives first and leaves last. One outlet referenced six insiders who described the phone incident, though accounts varied on its force, while NOTUS said the device did not hit the aide but left several workers unsettled.

Martin also questioned why such allegations were surfacing from within the organization and redirected the conversation to voters’ economic worries ahead of the 2026 midterms. Financial disclosures reveal the DNC ending June with $16.3 million in cash and $18.5 million in debt, starkly contrasted with the Republican National Committee’s $128.5 million cash balance. Former DNC finance director Rufus Gifford previously cited internal leaks as a sign of eroding confidence in Martin’s leadership.
