Drone hits Kyiv apartment block, injuring four including children

A Russian drone struck a 12-storey residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district on Oct. 7, wounding four people, two of them children.

On the evening of Oct. 7, a Russian drone slammed into the tenth floor of a 12-storey apartment block in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, sparking a blaze and causing partial structural damage. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that four people were injured, including two children, while emergency crews rescued 22 residents, eight of them children, and later put out the fire. The incident came as part of a larger offensive that started overnight, targeting residential buildings in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava and Dnipro oblasts, and coincided with President Vladimir Putin’s 74th birthday.

In the nearby city of Pryluky, a Russian cruise missile destroyed a five-storey building, killing 20 and wounding 55, including five children. The attacks also disrupted electricity and water supplies for many Kyiv residents.
