Election volunteer attacked in Kristianstad, suspect arrested

A man in his twenties was assaulted after leaving a stairwell in Kristianstad, was hospitalized and later released, and an 18-year-old was detained for the attack.

Niklas Karlsson said election workers were ambushed by a man waiting outside a stairwell, resulting in repeated blows to the victim's head. Police confirmed the assault and the young man was taken to hospital before being discharged that night. An 18-year-old has been taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned the violence, emphasizing that threats to democratic participation are unacceptable.
