Emirates A380 performs aborted landing and go-around at Zurich Airport

Emirates flight EK87, an Airbus A380 that left Dubai in the early morning, arrived over Zurich and attempted a landing on runway 14. After the main landing gear made contact, the pilots accelerated and kept the nose gear off the ground, executing a go-around due to a lateral wind component and a modest tailwind that displaced the aircraft to the left. The incident was captured in an Instagram video showing a brief wobble before the aborted landing.

Meanwhile, Swiss flight LX8 to Chicago was granted a start clearance on runway 16 but was quickly ordered to abort because its departure route would have crossed the Emirates flight path. The Emirates A380 completed a successful landing on its second try at 13:48, after circling over nearby towns and southern Germany.
