EU enlargement chief says Ukraine outpaces all nations in reform delivery
EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos stated that Ukraine is currently delivering more reforms than any other country, despite the war.
During an October 5 press conference on EU-Moldova ties, EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos praised Ukraine's reform momentum, asserting that no other nation is delivering reforms at the same speed under wartime conditions. She placed Ukraine alongside Moldova as the frontrunners among the four most promising enlargement candidates. Kos reminded that Ukraine's reforms are tied to both EU membership prospects and the release of more than €20 billion in financial aid.
She referenced a September letter to the Verkhovna Rada outlining required legislation, including a contentious law on the rights of the Hungarian-speaking minority slated for a vote on October 12. Kos added that passage of this law could unlock additional funding clusters for both Ukraine and Moldova, moving them closer to completing the remaining reform packages.
Why it matters
