European Prosecutor Asked to Probe PSOE Use of EU Election Funds

The Guardia Civil's Central Operational Unit (UCO) has submitted a dossier to National Court judge Santiago Pedraz, citing a private denunciation filed with the European Public Prosecutor. The complaint alleges that the PSOE financed a media operation run by Leire Díez and her deceased associate, paying for advertising in exchange for the suppression of audio recordings made in the sauna of Sabiniano Gómez, the father-in-law of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

The petitioner argues that such spending may constitute misuse of funds earmarked for the European Parliament election campaign. The request urges the European Prosecutor to determine whether the alleged actions fall within its jurisdiction and breach EU financial rules. If proven, the case could implicate the party, its leadership, and the individuals involved in diverting EU resources for non-political purposes.
