Ferrari eyes 15-hp boost for Monza with upcoming 2026 power-unit upgrade

Sources indicate that Ferrari intends to add roughly 15 horsepower to its 2026 power unit for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, a change that could translate into a two-tenth of a second improvement on the high-speed Monza circuit. The upgrade, referred to as ADUO 2 under the FIA’s Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities framework, would likely focus on the turbocharger, adding more impeller blades at a new angle.

AutoRacer also linked the power boost to a low-drag aerodynamic package, meaning any performance gains would stem from the combined package rather than the engine alone. This follows Ferrari’s first ADUO upgrade, which debuted at the Austrian Grand Prix and featured combustion-chamber work, a steel-alloy cylinder head and a new Shell fuel blend. While the team has not officially confirmed the plan, driver Charles Leclerc cautioned that the modification is incremental. The upgrade is expected at Monza rather than the subsequent Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
