FIFA COO Kevin Lamour departs amid fallout from Infantino's failed investment scheme

FIFA’s chief operating officer Kevin Lamour has left the organization after Gianni Infantino’s private-investment proposal was abandoned.

Kevin Lamour’s exit from FIFA was announced by the governing body, noting that his tenure as chief operating officer concluded on Monday. Lamour had earlier issued a harsh statement accusing Gianni Infantino of deceiving staff with a proposal to sell World Cup investment stakes, calling the effort a one-person project. The criticism came just after top adviser Carlos Cordeiro resigned in protest of the same plan, questioning its governance and benefits.

The controversial proposal, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise, was withdrawn within days of being reported. Calls for Infantino’s resignation have continued, with UEFA maintaining its boycott of FIFA events despite the plan’s cancellation. While U.S. Soccer and other federations demand reforms, Infantino remains in office ahead of a 2027 presidential election.
