Finance Minister launches nationwide tour to collect industry and public input for 2027 budget

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan began a multi-state tour to hear suggestions from businesses, NGOs and citizens ahead of Budget 2027.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan announced a country-wide budget tour aimed at incorporating views from industry players, NGOs and ordinary Malaysians into the 2027 fiscal plan. The tour will visit each state, starting with Sabah and Perak, where discussions will centre on the blue economy and automotive sectors. In Penang, the focus shifts to the electrical and electronics, semiconductor, and medical-device industries, which are seen as high-value contributors to employment.

Stakeholders will participate in focus-group sessions and meetings, and the Ministry will review the suggestions for potential budget allocation. Amir Hamzah said this inclusive approach is intended to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of the budget by looking beyond government ministries.

Why it matters

Gathering sectoral input could shape Malaysia's 2027 budget, affecting jobs and investment across key industries.
