Former deputy minister claims Pintér Sándor was surveilled for years

Vályi-Nagy Vilmos, the former state secretary responsible for infocommunications in the second Orbán government, told Partizán that Pintér Sándor, former interior minister, was placed under constant surveillance beginning in 2014 and lasting more than two years. According to Vályi-Nagy, the monitoring may have been motivated by fears that Pintér possessed information about the Eclipse scandal, a major corruption case involving a company where Pintér's daughter was a project manager.

He added that Pintér attempted to have his own dismissal arranged by the prime minister and that he received threats and intimidation to force him abroad. A farewell lunch in the summer of 2014 was reportedly attended by staff from the Constitutional Protection Office, who shadowed the event, and Vályi-Nagy says the surveillance ended in 2016, though isolated incidents occurred later.
