Four fatalities reported in separate Kerala accidents involving a tourist van and a train collision

Two people died when a tourist van carrying Mandya University students overturned near Sultan Bathery, and two school pupils were killed by a train near Chemancheri station in Kerala.

Police reported two fatal accidents in Kerala within a day. Around 1:30 am on Monday, a tourist van returning from a sightseeing tour overturned at the 54th Mile in Sultan Bathery, killing the driver Ranjith and a passenger identified as Bharath; the vehicle was carrying 15 people, including students from Mandya University. Fire and Rescue Services cut open the wreckage and transferred the survivors to a nearby hospital, with three victims listed as critical.

The following evening, near Chemancheri railway station, a train struck two close friends, Avanika, a Class 9 student, and Parthiv, a recent Class 10 graduate pursuing Plus One studies, killing both. Their bodies, initially badly damaged, were identified with relatives' help. Authorities have opened a case of unnatural death for the railway incident and are conducting investigations into both tragedies.
