German sprinter Owen Ansah claims 200m European gold amid doping allegation

The victory comes as Germany's National Anti-Doping Agency alleges he violated Article 2.3 of the national code by refusing or failing to submit to sample collection, though he remains eligible to compete because no provisional ban was issued.

The agency's letter of charge seeks a four-year suspension, and Ansah has a 20-day window to either accept the finding or trigger disciplinary proceedings before the German Court of Arbitration for Sport. He explained to sport1 that an anti-doping official visited his residence for an out-of-competition test as he prepared to travel to Monaco, and he could not provide a urine sample on the spot. Similar violations have led to lengthy bans in other sports, such as the four-year sanction imposed on former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova for a test refusal.
