Giant grocery app and website offline after suspected cyberattack
Giant’s online ordering platform and website have been unavailable for several days following a suspected cyberattack, while its physical stores stay open.
Giant’s online ordering app and website have been down for multiple days after a possible cyberattack, prompting parent company Ahold Delhaize to shut certain systems to protect its network. The company reported the issue on Monday and provided a more detailed update on Tuesday, noting a controlled relaunch of some services is underway. The outage also extends to the digital platforms of Food Lion, Stop & Shop, Giant Food and Hannaford, all owned by Ahold Delhaize.
While no evidence of customer, associate or partner data theft has been found, the firm will refund any orders that could not be fulfilled. Physical Giant stores, pharmacies and gas stations remain open, and customers can still order delivery via Instacart, DoorDash or Uber Eats. Digital coupons will be re-activated on loyalty cards if the app remains down.
