Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart sustains knee injury in Monday night loss to Rams

In the opening drive of the Monday Night Football contest between the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams, quarterback Jaxson Dart was hit by Rams defenders both above and below the waist, forcing his left knee into an abnormal bend. The injury appears to involve the medial collateral ligament, according to an NFL source, reducing the likelihood of a catastrophic ACL tear that would end his season. Dart was treated on the field, then escorted to the locker room while teammates gathered anxiously nearby.

The Giants also lost top receiver Malik Nabers, who exited after clutching his right shoulder following an incomplete pass. With both the starting quarterback and the No. 1 wideout sidelined, backup Jameis Winston took over the offense.
