Golf Channel delays new reality series after sponsor quits over controversial ad
The Golf Channel pushed back the debut of "Big Break x Good Good" by a week after a sponsor withdrew following backlash to a Good Good Golf video depicting a man shoving a woman.
Golf Channel announced that the launch of the reality program "Big Break x Good Good" will be postponed to Sept. 1 after a sponsor requested removal of its branding. The sponsor, believed to be Golf Galaxy, pulled out amid growing criticism of a Good Good Golf advertisement that featured a man shoving a woman while she reached for a new Callaway driver. Good Good removed the video within a day and issued an apology, stating the actions conflicted with its values.
Callaway expressed disappointment and apologized, acknowledging it had approved the video before release. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said the initial response was "a little bit defensive and late" but noted that the tour is monitoring the issue and will continue discussions with Good Good Golf. The title sponsorship of an upcoming PGA Tour event in Austin, Texas, remains uncertain as the parties assess the fallout.
Why it matters
The delay highlights how sponsor pressure and public backlash can reshape sports programming and brand partnerships.
