Greenkeeper discovers blood-stained items linked to double murder trial

In the ongoing double-murder trial of Beau Lamarre-Condon, a greenskeeper at the Cronulla Bowls Club reported finding a collection of blood-splattered belongings in a skip bin on 21 February. Among the items were brand-new AFL shorts, a Qantas identification card, a silver watch, a leather pouch and various pieces of clothing, all allegedly discarded after Lamarre-Condon used his police service weapon to kill umpire Jesse Baird and flight attendant Luke Davies on 19 February in Baird’s Paddington home.

Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC argued that the accused cleaned the scene and dumped the evidence, while defence counsel John Stratton SC maintains the shootings were a result of self-defence and panic. The prosecution also said Lamarre-Condon had been directed to the skip by a friend the night before. Justice Natalie Adams is presiding over the case, which includes charges of two counts of murder and aggravated break-and-enter.
