Harriet Dart, ranked 131st globally, exited the US Open after a 6-2 6-2 defeat to 25th-seeded Marie Bouzkova, attributing her performance to feeling ill and the oppressive heat at Flushing Meadows. Throughout the match she used ice towels and chilled air streams to try to lower her body temperature, yet she recorded eight double faults and a first-serve success rate of just 45%. Bouzkova seized control early, taking seven consecutive games to claim the opening set and quickly building a double break in the second.
Dart could not recover, and Bouzkova advanced to face Iga Swiatek in the third round. With Dart's departure, Fran Jones remains the only British competitor left in either singles draw, set to meet Iva Jovic later.
