Haze pushes Pasir Gudang's API to 152, triggering unhealthy air alerts in Johor

A haze event has affected several districts in Johor, causing Pasir Gudang's Air Pollutant Index to rise to 152, categorised as unhealthy. Larkin posted a similar reading of 150, and Pengerang, Tangkak, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Batu Pahat and Segamat showed values between moderate and unhealthy levels. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is identified as the primary pollutant across all monitoring sites.

Ling Tian Soon, chair of the Johor Health and Environment Committee, said the state Environment Department is conducting hourly checks and will implement measures according to the haze severity. An API between 101 and 150 prompts restrictions on outdoor activities for students and heightened patrols at fire-prone and construction areas.
