Houthis seize al-Safiya, block key supply corridor between Taiz and Aden

The Houthis took control of al-Safiya, cutting the main road that links Taiz with Aden and surrounding the city.

On Sunday, Houthi forces captured the al-Safiya district, seized the local police station and blocked the primary supply route between Taiz and Aden, the interim capital of the Saudi-backed government. Security and military sources confirmed the takeover, which effectively encircles Taiz. The move disrupts the flow of goods and aid to the city, heightening humanitarian concerns.

Why it matters

Blocking the Taiz-Aden road hampers aid delivery and deepens the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
