Human rights group files fresh ethics complaint against FIFA chief over Trump-related incidents

FairSquare, a human-rights organization, has presented FIFA's ethics panel with a fresh complaint targeting President Gianni Infantino for alleged violations of the governing body's ethical standards. The document argues that Infantino attempted to win Donald Trump's favor, thereby breaching obligations of political impartiality and loyalty, and seeks personal gain. Eight incidents are enumerated, including four previously raised in a December 2025 filing concerning the disputed awarding of FIFA's peace prize to Trump.

Additional accusations relate to Infantino's involvement in the handling of Folarin Balogun's red card during the World Cup knockout stage and the abrupt reversal of that sanction. The complaint also references the collapsed scheme to grant private investors a financial stake in upcoming World Cups. FIFA maintains that disciplinary decisions were made by an independent committee.
