Human rights groups urge Babiš to revoke appointments of Kuchařová, Kříž and Black

A coalition of human-rights organisations, including Amnesty International and the Czech Women’s Lobby, released a press statement condemning the recent expansion of the government’s human-rights advisory council. The council added seven members, among them Kříž, Black and Kuchařová, whose public statements on queer rights, abortion bans, corporal punishment and gender-affirming surgery raise concerns about the council’s independence.

The NGOs warned that the shift of the council’s agenda from the Prime Minister’s Office to three ministries has already prompted the resignation of dozens of experts. They urged Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, as council chair, to review the appointments and remove the three controversial figures to protect established rights.
