Hungarian cabinet trims ministers' pay and hands out Škoda vehicles

One outlet Hungarian government has cut the remuneration of its ministers and state secretaries, moving away from the higher pay levels set by the former administration. Magyar Peter’s own salary was reduced to a gross 2.5 million forint per month, and most ministers now earn roughly 2 million, while those without parliamentary mandates receive 3.5 million. State secretaries are paid a flat 3 million, with a reduced 1.7 million for those who also serve as MPs.

Beyond salary changes, the cabinet issued Škoda vehicles to many officials, including Superb, Multivan, Suberb, and Kodiaq models, with some ministers also receiving housing allowances. The adjustments were part of a broader effort to symbolically demonstrate fiscal restraint by the political elite.
