Hungarian Parliament appoints three deputy heads of anti-corruption agency NVVH
The Országgyűlés held a secret ballot and elected three deputy directors for the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office, completing the agency's leadership team.
The Hungarian Parliament conducted a secret ballot on Tuesday to fill the three deputy-director positions of the Nemzeti Vagyonvisszaszerzési és Vagyonvédelmi Hivatal (NVVH). Each nominee secured a two-thirds majority of the 139 voting members, with no votes against or abstentions. The Justice and Constitution Committee recommended Dr. Ötvös Károly for the public-finance deputy, Dr. Gellért Károly Árpád for the prosecution deputy, and Dr. Terhes Tibor Dávid for the appeals deputy, and the chamber ratified these choices.
Their biographies, posted on the parliamentary website, highlight prior work on money-laundering, corruption and other economic crimes, including investigations involving Simonka György, Zuschlag János, and the firm linked to the weddings of Mészáros Lőrinc and Andrea Várkonyi. The appointments arrive as the NVVH, previously under caretaker leadership, announced its first investigative priorities, such as the “water-business” case tied to Orbán Áron and a probe into Volánbusz procurement that led to the detention of KDNP MP Seszták Miklós.
