Hungarian Parliament approves public access to secret intelligence files

The Hungarian National Assembly voted to adopt a proposal that allows public scrutiny of specific state security archives. Prime Minister Magyar Péter announced the decision, noting that the ruling Fidesz party abstained from supporting the initiative and asking why. The law will enable researchers to examine early security documents, including network personnel files and records from the early 1990s. However, personal details will be blacked out, and a substantial portion of the material is already missing, meaning the released files will not offer a full picture of the former intelligence network or all involved parties.
