ICE detains multiple undocumented immigrants with violent felony convictions
ICE agents arrested several non-citizens who had previously been convicted of serious crimes, including a child-rape conviction in Illinois.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the capture of several undocumented individuals with histories of violent offenses. The roundup featured Carlos Angel Zavala of El Salvador, who had been found guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault involving a child younger than 13 in Illinois, a state that identifies as a sanctuary. Additional detainees were Daniel Omar Zavala-Castro, previously sentenced for first-degree manslaughter and assault in Connecticut, and Jean Paul Mpanurwa, who had rape, felonious assault and kidnapping convictions in Utah.
The list also included Alcius Marckles, convicted in New Jersey of aggravated assaults and property damage, and Victor Hugo Casillo-Vallejo, who faced robbery and firearm-related charges in Florida. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin highlighted the arrests, stating they removed murderers, pedophiles and other public-safety threats from the streets. The operation underscores ICE’s focus on deporting non-citizens with serious criminal records.
