Impersonating 49ers player, Daejon Love ordered held in Idaho pending Oregon fraud trial

Daejon Love, 35, was arrested in Boise on August 24 after allegedly masquerading as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women. An Idaho judge granted prosecutors’ request to keep him detained, citing his use of multiple names, vehicles, phones and lack of a fixed residence, which they argued made him a serious flight risk. Love is currently confined at the Ada County Jail while authorities prepare to transfer him to Oregon to face two federal wire-fraud charges.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon said his next hearing will be scheduled after the transfer, which could take some time. His purported partner, 18-year-old Taylor Chan, was released pending trial and is expected to appear in Oregon on September 10. Both men are charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud for deceiving at least 26 victims.
