Independent Deepanshu Shokeen Leads DUSU Vice-President Race by Over 800 Votes

The Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) vice-president tally shows independent Deepanshu Shokeen ahead by more than 800 votes over ABVP's Ishu Maurya and NSUI's Vir Chatrath. While the other top posts—president, secretary and joint secretary—are still contested tightly between ABVP and NSUI, Shokeen's margin stands out as the only clear lead for an independent. A Buddhist Studies student from Peeragarhi, Shokeen is the son of a bus conductor and an Anganwadi worker and graduated from Bhagat Singh College.

He announced his win on X, expressing gratitude to the university community and pledging to honor their trust. Reports indicate he initially filed for NSUI nomination but refused to withdraw when the party asked him to, opting instead to run independently. The vote count is ongoing, but his lead appears decisive at this stage.
