India's Vancouver Consulate mourns two Indian students killed in Canadian air crash

In a statement posted on X, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver conveyed deep sorrow over the deaths of two Indian students, Manoj Sivakumar of Tamil Nadu and Srisaran Thirugnanasambantham of Puducherry, who were killed in an air accident while undergoing flight training in Canada. The consulate offered heartfelt sympathy to the families and confirmed its readiness to provide all necessary consular aid, including arranging the repatriation of the deceased to India.

The announcement comes amid wider governmental efforts to safeguard Indian citizens overseas, as outlined by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh in a recent parliamentary reply. He described the Ministry of External Affairs' Rapid Response Cell, which coordinates evacuation and assistance operations with various agencies and armed forces. The ministry is also finalising trials of a digital emergency response platform to improve future crisis handling.
