Indonesia launches Coordinating Ministry to Accelerate Downstreaming and Energy Transition
Indonesia has created a Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, announced by Bahlil Lahadalia, to speed up President Prabowo’s energy goals.
During the State Palace ceremony in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia unveiled a new coordinating ministry aimed at fast-tracking President Prabowo Subianto’s downstreaming and energy transition objectives. Holding both the coordinating minister role and the Energy and Mineral Resources portfolio, Lahadalia explained that the ministry will bring together relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, to streamline implementation.
Its headquarters will remain within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, where 90% of total investment is concentrated in the energy and mineral resources sector. Lahadalia noted that a presidential regulation is still pending to formalize the structure. The launch coincided with Prabowo’s broader cabinet inauguration, which introduced officials such as National Police Chief Suyudi Ario Seto and several new ministers and deputy ministers.
