Injury-plagued Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite earns England recall after German rehab

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has returned from a series of injuries that saw him miss large parts of the last two seasons, including a groin operation, thigh issue and multiple hamstring surgeries. Over the summer he spent three to four weeks in Germany working with specialists on movement patterns and overall body management. The effort appears to have paid off, as he has featured in every Premier League minute so far and avoided the two Carabao Cup games.

His resurgence secured a recall to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the Nations League fixtures against Spain, Croatia and Czechia, after only a brief substitute cameo in a Euro warm-up in June 2024. Branthwaite said he aims to stay injury-free, manage his load, and challenge teammates Marc Guehi and Ezri Konsa for a starting role. He looks forward to joining the national team camp and proving his worth.
