Investigators Scan Călin Georgescu's Villa for Concealed Cash Using Specialized Equipment

DIICOT prosecutors and police have started a thorough examination of Călin Georgescu's residence in Mogoșoaia, using advanced equipment capable of scanning walls and floors for hidden compartments. After checking the upper level, investigators will move to the ground floor and then the basement. Georgescu, a former 2024 presidential candidate, was taken into custody on Monday while swimming, facing accusations of forming an organized crime group and committing aggravated fraud.

The probe includes five search operations across Bucharest, Mogoșoaia, Ciolpani and Buftea. According to DIICOT, the case involves three suspects - two Romanian nationals aged 64 and 47, and an Italian aged 56 - who allegedly established the criminal network in September 2021 and operated in both Romania and the UK, presenting themselves as prosperous businesspeople managing foreign companies.
