A man in his forties was seriously wounded when a vehicle rammed a police car at a checkpoint near Modi'in on the road to the West Bank.
On Wednesday, a man in his forties sustained life-threatening injuries after an assailant deliberately drove into a police vehicle at a checkpoint near Modi'in on the route to the West Bank. The victim, Neria Leiter, was serving as a reservist in the Israeli army and is the son of Jehiel Leiter, Israel's ambassador to Washington. He was rushed to Jerusalem's Sa'aré Cedek Hospital for treatment.
The attacker was shot dead by soldiers present at the scene. The Israeli military confirmed that it has reinforced the checkpoint's security personnel and is investigating the circumstances of the incident. The highway, known as route 443, is a major thoroughfare that traverses parts of the West Bank.
