Israeli forces detain over 20 Palestinians in Hebron siege operations
Israeli troops arrested at least 20 Palestinians while sweeping Hebron and surrounding towns, part of a broader siege that has forced more than 2,200 people to flee.
During a large-scale operation in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces entered most neighborhoods of Hebron, searching homes and reportedly abusing residents before taking detainees. The raids extended to the southern towns of Dura, Yatta and as-Samu, where 11 Palestinians were seized, and to Tarqumiya and Halhul in the north, adding two more arrests. The ongoing siege has already displaced over 2,200 inhabitants.
Why it matters
The detentions illustrate the intensifying Israeli-Palestinian tensions and humanitarian impact of the Hebron siege.
