Italian teacher stabbed in classroom faces social media fury over remigration stance

A 13-year-old student stabbed teacher Isabella Marsilio inside a classroom at the Verga institute in the Centocelle district, leaving her with roughly fifteen stitches and prompting her discharge from hospital. After the attack, Marsilio spoke to Repubblica, stating she holds no ill will toward the boy and even wishes to meet him to give a hug, while commending a Congolese student who intervened and saying he deserves a medal.

She also reiterated her support for “remigration,” which ignited a wave of vitriolic comments on her Facebook page. Users such as Lucia and Massimiliano questioned whether someone with her views should teach in state schools and called for ministry intervention. Others, like Carmelo and Elena, expressed personal disdain and framed the incident as “the nemesis,” noting she was attacked by an Italian and saved by a Congolese.

Additional remarks accused her of hypocrisy and included outright offensive statements. Amid the backlash, Marsilio remains at home recovering and expressed affection for the student who helped her.
