Jemimah Rodrigues eyes inaugural Women's Champions Trophy after India's World Cup win

Jemimah Rodrigues, currently rehabbing a hamstring injury from her stint with Southern Brave in The Hundred, expressed that India's 2025 World Cup victory has intensified the squad's desire to succeed again. She highlighted the significance of the first women's ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for February 14-28, 2027, in Sri Lanka, noting that the event will be contested by six teams in a round-robin format leading to a final.

Rodrigues emphasized the personal excitement of participating in the tournament's debut edition. Prior to the Champions Trophy, India will face South Africa on a multi-format tour beginning December 9, 2026, which includes a one-off Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. The tournament was shifted from a June-July window after an ICC board decision. Rodrigues conveyed optimism that the recent World Cup success will fuel the team's performance in both the South Africa series and the Champions Trophy.
