Jewish groups condemn Mark Ruffalo for alleged extremist remarks linked to Paramount deal

The Simon Wiesenthal Center and Creative Community for Peace accused actor Mark Ruffalo of using antisemitic language in criticism of Paramount’s acquisition plans.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center and Creative Community for Peace publicly rebuked Mark Ruffalo, asserting that his recent remarks about the Paramount-Skydance acquisition incorporated antisemitic tropes. Their criticism arrived after Paramount issued a statement condemning Ruffalo’s Instagram repost of a year-old clip in which board member Safra Catz discussed the Israel-Hamas conflict. In his commentary, Ruffalo claimed that Larry Ellison was financing his son David Ellison’s bid for Warner Bros.

Discovery, which also involves sovereign wealth funds from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. He labeled Ellison Sr. a “classic oligarch” and accused the family of empowering destructive forces. Ruffalo later dismissed the antisemitism allegation as “fundamentally dishonest” on the platform X. Both Jewish groups lauded Paramount’s decision to call out the language as a necessary stand against prejudice.
