Jordan's King Abdullah II Begins Two-Day State Visit to Malaysia

King Abdullah II arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a two-day state visit, hosted by Sultan Ibrahim and meeting Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

King Abdullah II of Jordan touched down in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday for a two-day state visit, responding to an invitation from Sultan Ibrahim of Malaysia. Accompanying the king are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi along with senior members of the Royal Hashemite Court and the Jordanian government. The program features a formal reception at Istana Negara, a state banquet, and separate audiences with Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The trip coincides with the commemoration of over sixty years of diplomatic ties established in 1965. Both countries highlighted their strong educational links, noting more than 1,600 Malaysian students in Jordanian institutions and nearly 1,500 Jordanian students in Malaysia. Trade between the two nations rose to RM993.4 million in 2025 and continued to grow in 2026, underscoring expanding economic cooperation.
